How many people are in Therapy these days?

And what are most dealing with?

Well, since COVID, more info has come out through the realms of social media. Many mainstream psychologists and neurobiologists, who would once upon a time place their academic views ahead of the truth (the ‘felt sense’ of what is happening with their clients), are now embracing what most of us in this work or in spiritual circles have always known.

And that is, the body keeps score! It’s even the name of a famous book (here you go, The Body keeps the Score )

What does this mean for those of us working somatically for 20+ years? It means that HEALING is more readily available to everyone - and the practice of hands on & energetic work sits more comfortably within the space of what has to be recognised as ‘legitimate practice.’

So, even though the ancients such as Indians - with ayervedic, and Chinese - with herbal medicine/tai chi/ acupuncture to name a few, have always embraced natural bodywork modalities to access the human container, now the modern medical fraternity can look at all the data, test all the research (and as a recent psych student, THIS research is at the core of teachings - way behind actual situations today and only now just accepting that the psyche and mental health was known about many thousands of years ago), and FINALLY integrate bodywork as a key factor in healing!

Therefore, when I say that yes there are many who may be in therapy, what kind of treatments do they search for?

Hormonal imbalances, chronic nervous system dysregulation, chronic PTSD from undiagnosed trauma (I’ve just read about how these traumas are quite different too. EG childhood trauma can present as different to any sexual trauma in late life Adult behaviours… but that’s for another discussion), and diagnosed mental illnesses that may stem from specific challenges deemed traumatic….often seek out mental health practitioners who have a diagnoses, and long term conversations.

The point is: these ALL show up because the root cause of trauma - or stress - may be treated sub-consciously by going to a doctor, or a massage therapist - or a psychologist, but where do you learn about the root cause? How are you empowered to better understand the healing process, and offered alternative management practices?

Now we know you can come to a bodyworker and CONSCIOUSLY SOURCE THE ROOT CAUSE of any physical and/or mental ailment. And also, nowadays many pychologists and mental health practitioners are INFORMED. They are more readily accepting and prepared to recommend a bodyworker where healing may occur at a deeper, and more fundamentally beneficial level for you.

This is such great news, and it gives me great joy to share these healing wins with my community.

Every day is a win when you’re aware of what makes you sick, and enabled with knowledge to source your own very unique healing tools.

Blessings and love
